You've made it!

Hey guys!

Can you believe this is the LAST day of class? YAY! You've made it this far and by this time next week, you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits Summer vacation can bring.

Just remember that our Final Critique is on Monday, May 2 at 1:30pm in the mac lab. This is the day when you also need to submit a cd with all 5 hi-res JPGs or PDFs of the projects you worked on this semester.

If you want to resubmit a project, make sure to do so by Monday. Put the new file in the CD, name your file as a resubmission and make sure that you inform me that you're resubmitting a project. Projects must be resubmitted the exact same way you submitted them the first time. [see assignment sheets if you're not sure how you need to submit it].

See you on our final critique!

Great website showing ads on buildings.
Another great website.

More ideas below:

BBDO's LandSAR print ads (tricky to see with the resolution but there's an Exit door and "We'll get you out" – you get the idea)

Homework_Due Tue, March 29

Use this weekend to research and bring the results back next class.

1. In the grocery store, take a photo of your product on the self surrounded by its competitors.

2. Take close-up photos of of 2-3 competitors.

3. Go to the manufacturer's website and research the product you're redesigning. If you can't find the info there, find it some place else. Bring the research to class.

After the break_Label redesign

Guys,

You deserve some rest during Spring break! However, you'll need to start thinking about our next assignment, which is a label redesign.

You must redesign a label of any food or drink, using your own original imagery and their copy. You can use the company or product's logos though.

The starting point is to find a pretty bad label that needs to be redesigned desperately. Don't choose a good one, because it's always easier to redesign something in bad shape than the opposite.

That being said, find a badly designed label and sketch 10 new layouts for it during the break. You must bring these 10 different ideas on March, 22. Think of how the new layout will behave when on the product. Think of images and/or words that you believe must be highly visible. Think of colors, typefaces, proportions, and all the elements that must be present in that product's label.

On March 22, you also need to bring the product with its label on it to class, so we can begin to discuss the improvements your new design will bring to the product.
